Outlook has been randomly starting like this for some people. There’s nothing to click on for Inbox or Sent Items or Favorites. They’re gone! Clients make choking noises and reach for the phone to call me. That it has tracked down the bug and will fix it in a patch soon. In the meantime, it’s easy to fix as long as you remember that this is an issue and you don’t panic because you’re afraid that all your folders are missing. If the folder pane disappears, click on View / Folder Pane and check “Normal.” The Folder Panel will immediately appear.

Reading Pane Options. Mark as read delay If you still want the message to be automatically marked as read when you are reading it, but not when you are quickly browsing through your emails, then you can set a delay of several seconds before the message should be marked as read. For instance, if reading an email takes you at least 10 seconds and when you quickly go through your emails, you won’t be looking at the message for longer than 5 seconds, then you set your delay to 10 seconds. Outlook Web App Use the display settings to control the appearance of the message list, reading pane, and conversation view. • In a web browser, sign in to Outlook Web App using the URL provided by the person who manages email for your organization.
