I am using Word 2016 for Mac. I am trying to remove background colour behind text I have copied from my online learning portal, but I cannot find a way in Word to remove the background black. To pick a color from a file, select the picture image, click the gear icon, and select New from File. Remove image background color. Add or change a background image Click Picture, click Select Picture, browse through your image files, and then double-click the image that you want to use. If you want the background image to show with full color intensity, clear the Washout check box.

My Mac Pro has 4 hard drives, and an external for backup. One drive is primarily used as a scratch disk and “extra memory” for programs that require it, such as Photoshop. 
I don’t have any SSDs installed, and frankly don’t feel the need for them with my graphics work, but I am sure that would bump up the speed as well. And there is that option.
